Omslagdoek vakantie 2023

Crochet pattern Little chick named Bertje

Kennen jullie Bertje nog? Lief klein schattig kuikentje.

Legs Orange

Hook nr.2

Chain 15, *(toe) skip 1 and crochet a slip stitch in next, slip stitch in next, slip stitch in next, slip stitch in next (so 4 sl sts in total)* Ch 4 and repeat what is in between *stars*. You end in the same opening where you put the last slip stitch in. Chain 4 again and repeat between the *stars*. Now crochet with a slip stitch in every stitch back to the beginning of the leg until you reach the end of the leg. Leave a long thread so that you can use it to attach it to the bodice. Repeat again for leg 2.

Fastening is done between the second and third row at the bottom (see photo below).

Mohawk Orange

Hook nr.2

Chain 8, work 1dc in the 6th of the chain. Chain 2 and then 1 slip stitch in the 5th of the chain. Now chain 2, 1dc in 4th of this chain, chain 2 and then a sl st in 3rd. Then ch two again, 1dc in the 2nd of the chain, then chain two a sl st in the first of this chain. Leave a long thread so that you can use it to attach to the head.

The mohawk is on top in the middle of the top of the head.

Beak Orange

Hook nr.2

Start with a magic ring. Chain 2 and then 5dc in the magic ring. Close with a slip stitch. Leave a long thread so you can attach the beak on to the head. Sew below and above the 17th row.

Wings Yellow

Hook nr.3

Chain 10, skip 1: crochet 1sc in each.  After the last sc crochet 1 chain (this is a turning chain)  Turn your work and go back with 1sc in each. When you have worked this round, continue with slip stitches, 1 sl. st. in each (so do not turn your work). Just crochet around and don’t crochet too tight. Leave a long thread.

Repeat again for wing 2.

You attach the wings (between the transition of head and body) to the sides of the chick.

Eyes Use black beads: between the 18th and 19th round.

Cheeks

I colored the cheeks with beeswax (cheek red). Don't have this? You can also color the cheeks with a soft red pencil, for example. You could also use some rouge, or a red/pink craon.
